A glimpse behind the camera

Hey there!
My name is Destiny, thanks for stopping by!
I am passionate about storytelling, spreading awareness and sharing truth with my work, and I've been a professional photographer for over a decade now. I've been blessed with some amazing opportunities, and I am honored to capture each and every session I do for my clients.
Over the years, I have done engagements, weddings, family sessions, portraits, pet and equine photography, travel/wildlife photography, and photojournalism. I've traveled and lived in the MENA (Middle East North Africa) region doing documentary work for a missions organization for over 5 months in 2017. In 2021 I started my degree at Moody Bible Institute in communications, and in 2023/2024 I led a team of designers, photographers and writers as the Creative Director for the campus art and theology journal and campus yearbook. Most recently, in 2024, I wrote, designed and printed my own 150 page book titled See, Know, Honor: A Theology of Seeing that incorporated photographs and told the stories of ten individuals with often overlooked stories. This was my capstone project for my degree, and it was such an incredible opportunity to hear and share the stories of others.
As a creative, it is truly a joy to photograph my clients and to document their special moments in life. From a solo portrait session, to a day-in-the-life with their families and beyond, each session is unique. I find it a privilege to do what I do!
My Why:
Photography is something I have been passionate about ever since I was a little girl. My mother has told me that I used to run around with a little pink Barbie camera as a child, taking pictures of things, and my love for storytelling and image-making just grew from there. As a child, I never understood why my friends didn’t share the same desire I had to travel and document stories from around the world. My biggest dream growing up was to become a professional photojournalist for National Geographic, traveling and documenting world issues. I wanted to truthfully share the stories I experienced wherever I went, from the beauty of landscapes to stories of community needs. This all started to make sense to me after I accepted Christ into my life as an eighteen-year-old. I realized the passions I had were specifically given to me by the Lord.
Isaiah 1:17 is a verse the Lord put on my heart one-night several years ago, and it says, “learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.” To me, this verse encapsulates what it means to be a Christian photojournalist, to bring the truth to the world, tell the stories of those who are overlooked, ignored, or unable to share on their own, as well as share the beauty all around us in the everyday. Photography offers a unique opportunity to share truth with the world. Even in the hard stories, there is beauty and hope, and I want to share that.
